Yveltal-EX Variants // BLW-on 2016

#1

Yet another expanded deck brought back to life thanks to our BLW-on format. This deck suffered heavily from the loss of Dark Patch (and to a much lesser extend, Sableye) but both those cards are back now. Here’s a sample list:

Pokemon: 11

3 Yveltal EX
2-2 Garbodor DRX
2 Yveltal XY
1 Seismitoad EX
1 Sableye DEX

Trainers: 38

4 Juniper
4 N
2 Lysandre
1 Colress
1 Hex Maniac

4 Hypnotoxic Laser
4 Dark Patch
3 Trainer’s Mail
3 Ultra Ball
3 Muscle Band
3 VS Seeker
2 Float Stone
1 Professor’s Letter
1 Computer Search

2 Virbank City Gym

Energy: 11

8 Darkness
3 Double Colorless

The basic strategy is to setup a lock with Garbodor to deny your opponent his/her abilities. This is also the reason why Shaymin was excluded from the deck, its ability gets shut off. Then use Yveltal EX to clean up the game. You can discard Energy via Ultra Ball and use Dark Patch to gain multiple Energy Attachments per turn. You can also use the tech Seismitoad to deny your opponent items on critical turns. This list is by no means perfect, it’s just a starting point. Here are some additional cards you may want to consider when building your version of this deck:

  • Darkrai EX
  • Battle Compressor
  • Escape Rope
  • Dowsing Machine
  • Baltoy AOR
  • Random Receiver
  • Level Ball
  • Wally
  • Surprise Megaphone
  • Additional Existing Cards (More Float Stone, Energy, Muscle Band, Random Receiver, etc.)

#2

Since tho is technically an Yveltal thread, can we talk about Yveltal decks with no Garbodor?

#3

I don’t see any reason why not, the title will probably have to be changed simply to “Yveltal EX Variants” though…

#4

Any standard deck ideas for yveltal ex? Since he’s basically the only good card I have atm. /:

#5

You can make a thread for that…

#6

I thought since it said “Yveltal EX” In the subject this would be appropriate.

#7

Yveltal EX/Garbodor, Yveltal/Fairybox, Yveltal/Seismitoad/(Garbodor), Speed Yveltal, and Yveltal/Big Basics all used to be solid choices. I’m not sure how much these decks are still viable, but it’s a starting point if you want to test a deck with Yveltal in in.

#8

This is expanded…

#9

Oh, didn’t read the “Standard” part.

Yeah, this thread is for expanded versions of Yveltal, you can create a separate thread for Standard Yveltal if you want though. (Much like how Vileplume has a Standard and Expanded version.)

#10

Btw, I changed the category to expanded so no one gets confused.

Probably could fit another Dark patch with such a high count of energy, also, Colress could be good, and then there is other stuff like more draw items like trainer’s mail and acro bike.

#18

Any reason that you’re not using Hoopa to get out all those EX Pokemon?

#19

Bench space is an issue if you splash Hoopa into that deck. Having a turn 1 Maxie’s is no good if there’s no space for the Archeops or Gallade. Hoopa works in straight Yveltal, but not in Yveltal/Maxie.

#20

Skyfield isnt an option? There is certainly space in the last list that was posted.
